The inside building was clean. I think I may have saw a worker inside but wasn't sure. The restrooms were clean and a lot of space. I don't know about the water fountains because I didn't try them. But to me everything was up to par. Oh and they have a free shuttle bus. Good job Fort Lauderdale Amtrek!! 5 stars from me!!!
Came for a convention that I unfortunately will not be able to attend. I paid $200 for a round trip ticket to Jacksonville and back. Departed at 9 am and and it's almost 7 pm, and we're still not in Jacksonville. We ended up getting delayed for an hour and a half due to the female rider and a police officer encounter. Riders were left to sit while she and the officer spoke outside about who knows what. I decided to cancel my return ride and book a flight back home to Fort lauderdale on Friday. I may never use Amtrak again.
Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful city. Good food and beautiful people.
If someone pays extra for premium and loundge i dont understand the point of opening 20'mins before the departure when all the other amtrak stations allow us to sit and wait for as long as we need in their loundge
Unfortunately. The police and the courts do nothing with the homeless people at all. They leave them where they stand. For that reason, fort Lauderdale is terrible place to visit and live. Can you imagine owning a 3 million condo and having somebody using the bathroom on the sidewalk outside of your building and you can't do anything about it. Come to fort Lauderdale and find out
These stations need bathrooms. I understand they did not install because of homeless and there is a bathroom on the train. However the lack thereof cause people with kids great inconvenience.
First of the location just west of downtown puts this Amtrak station in a very classic setting to begin with. It also allows for easy connecting to other means of transportation. This location tends to be a tad busier than the Hollywood one just south but if you live in the Fort Lauderdale area this will not disappoint. The staff is used to the volume and just like the Hollywood station is well maintained and accommodating.
Definitely a 5 star for the service. Very professional and polite staff. Gamma and co worker really paid attention and solved my problem not having a card at that moment. Clean and ac waiting room. Thank you Gamma for taking the time to show me where to go WM.

In 2022 - Arrived 1 hour prior to departure and station was not open.
In 2023 - Station was open-women's restroom was closed - all had to use the men's restroom. No signs posted.
The train is like any other Amtrak I've been on. Station is clean with well made steel bench seating. The water fountains don't work. The woman working the ticket counter kept waking me up after an all night flight to tell me first "you can't have your feet on the bench" and then again stated "you can't lie down on the bench because other people need to be able to sit on them" even though there was never even one person for each four seat row bench and no one else used the one under the TV where I was. Then she had us all go out all the way down to the end out from under the cover just outside the station to wait while it started to rain.
